The ISS-tshirt project introduces a novel class of smart textile engineered for continuous, unobtrusive physiological monitoring of astronauts aboard the International Space Station and future long-duration crewed missions. Integrating an array of high-fidelity biosensors seamlessly within a garment substrate, the system delivers data acquisition of critical biometric data throughout nominal mission operations.

At the core of the system lies the proprietary Stress & Exertion Level (SEL) algorithm — a multi-parameter computational framework that fuses cardiovascular, respiratory, and thermoregulatory signals to derive a continuous, clinically validated composite index of astronaut health and psychophysiological stress state. The SEL algorithm enables ground medical teams to detect deviations from baseline well in advance.
